Sunday 12th September 2010 at 10.30am in the Studio

Playing dates 19th to 27th November

A dark and bitterly funny play set in a totalitarian state. A writer is interrogated over the similarity of his short stories to a series of child murders that have been taking place nearby.

Four extraordinary opportunities for brave and truthful acting await four brave and truthful actors.

Auditions will be individual. Please ring Danny on 01707 375766 to book a slot. No need to learn anything but we will be reading through and discussing various scenes.

All parts are male although Ariel could be played by a woman. Playing ages are as a guide only.

  • Katurian: 20s – 40s. Full name ‘Katurian Katurian Katurian’. A writer of dark fantasy short stories. In his childhood his brother had been mistreated by his parents and he has brought up his brother alone. He has no idea why he had been arrested.
  • Michal: 20s – 40s. Katurian's brother, who is ‘slow to get things’. His parents treated him badly. He is interrogated in the next cell to Katurian.
  • Tupolski: 30s – 50s. The lead detective and not quite a bad cop. Experienced, intelligent and coolly in control.
  • Ariel: 20s – 50s. Pretty bad cop. A violent detective whose anger is fuelled by stuff from his own past. More subjective and emotional than Tupolski.
