by Alan AyckbournDirected by John DaviesFriday 26th September – Saturday 4th October 1997 in the AuditoriumSet in the near future, in a fortified flat somewhere in the unpoliced badlands around the Northern Line. Jerome is a lonely composer of electronic music who has been unable to create a note since his beloved daughter and detested wife moved out. The actress he hires to play his fiancée, in a plan to regain custody of his daughter, has other ideas. But Jerome is a skilled electronic improviser, and his adaptation of a rather defective robot may succeed where flesh and blood have failed… One of Ayckbourn’s own favourites, this is one of his funniest plays for many years. |
