Archives - Last of the Red Hot Lovers
by Neil SimonDirected by Joan GoodwinFriday 17th – Saturday 25th September 2004 in the AuditoriumA laugh from beginning to end As one might expect from Neil Simon, a Red Hot Lover is precisely what Barney, its main character, is not. He belongs to that almost forgotten race of heroes who have lived a life of unblemished respectability, and in his case it includes 23 years of happy marriage. Suddenly, the middle-aged itch gets him, and he feels that if he is ever going to have any “adventures” now must be the time. The situations that result are typical Simon — funny, moving and true to life. If you remember Barefoot in the Park, the Odd Couple, California Suite, The Sunshine Boys, come along and enjoy yet another of this brilliant playwright’s many masterpieces. |
