Barn Theatre Studio Appeal

We have launched an appeal in 2010 to raised funds for a major redevelopment of our studio theatre.

Why improve the Studio?

Create a permanent home for the Youth Theatre
Establish a smaller theatre for people to learn set design, lighting, sound and stage management

The plan

Extend the Studio with new outer wall, gaining 1.5m of space
Replace steps from Club Room with ramp for full wheelchair access
Lower existing raised floor to increase continuous floorspace
New lighting and sound rigs and control booth
Better seating and storage

Our legacy

In years gone by the barn membership dug deep to purchase the freehold of the theatre and to refurbish the auditorium seating, and it is now our turn. We estimate we need £45,000.

We are already seeking sponsorship and grants to get us on our way to the total, but individuals can also help in several ways:

If your employer or company has a scheme to match your charitable donation with an equal amount, then please think seriously about giving your support to The Barn this year.
Perhaps you are a member of local fund-raising organisations such as Rotary or Lions clubs. Please let us know if we can submit a funding application.

Project progress

May: We have a project manager on board, David Rigg, to help develop brief for architect.
April: We have a new architect working on the building specs, and we are assembling a project management team to ensure that we have a flexible space, with all the right kit, to enable our young members to get a real head-start in the world of the theatre ? and that all the work runs smoothly.
