Archives - The Aspern Papers

by Michael Redgrave

Directed by Michael McArdle

Saturday 29th September – Saturday 6th October 1973 in the Auditorium

The setting is Venice in 1895. Two ladies living in obscurity are assiled by an American opportunist seeking to uncover jealously-guarded secrets of the early life of Jeffrey Aspern, a deceased poet of genius. The encounter produces the most profound effects on the lives of the protagonists. An absorbing, finely wrought tale, full of tension and intrigue.
