About the Barn Theatre Youth Groups

Barn Senior Youth Group (15—21 years)

The Barn Theatre aims to provide an opportunity for young people aged from 15?21 to have some theatre training and gain experience in performance, backstage work and theatre practices and etiquette. Members are expected to attend a weekly drama workshop/training sessions on Monday from 7.45pm — 10pm. This involves improvisation, play readings, characterisation and group work. In addition, the group may be preparing a main stage presentation or for a show to be entered into the Welwyn Garden City Youth Drama Festival.

For the more able and experienced, there may also be an opportunity to work on the season’s main theatre productions. Any young people interested in working hard at stage performances or backstage theatre work are always most welcome.

Barn Junior Youth Theatre (11—14 years)

Our Junior group is for those young people aged from 11—14, and meets on Monday evenings from 5.15pm — 7.30 pm. The aim is for the young people to learn stage technique including voice production and the skills needed to perform various styles called for by different types of plays. The group normally enters a production into the Welwyn Garden City Youth Drama Festival.
