As some of you may know, Comedy at the Barn started back in June 2018, bringing some of the best open mic comedians to the Barn members’ bar. Since then we’ve had five more fantastically funny nights with the last two packed to the rafters.
This year we’re making a change to the nights: we’re going fully pro! Every show will now feature professional comedians bringing their laughs to the Barn bar. For our first show we’re delighted to announce that our headline act will be Jarlath Regan and our opening act will be rising star of comedy Janine Harouni.
Jarlath Regan is an all-rounder. As a stand-up his talent was spotted early. His first few gigs earned him places in the finals of every new act competition, tour support spots for Ardal O’Hanlon, Marc Maron and Jack Whitehall, invitations to the world’s biggest comedy festivals and television appearances on the BBC, NBC and Comedy Central. As a presenter and podcaster he has won a legion of loyal fans through the creation of his multi-award-winning global hit podcast ‘An Irishman Abroad’. Jarlath’s ability to extract honesty from the likes of Sir Bob Geldof, Gabriel Byrne and Boy George has become legendary. The Daily Telegraph went as far as to forecast that it ‘could turn out to be one of the biggest podcasts since Ricky Gervais picked up a microphone’.
Jarlath is also an outspoken advocate for equality and organ donor awareness. After donating a kidney to his brother he penned his hugely successful one-man stand-up show ‘Organ Freeman’ to tell his story and raise vital awareness of live donation. The show won rave reviews, sold out its run at the Edinburgh Fringe, Leicester Square, Vicar Street and Soho Theatre, and Tatlermagazine named Jarlath their 2017 Comedy ‘Man Of The Year’.
Our opening act is Janine Harouni, Janine is the BBC New Comedy Award Winner 2019 and Dave’s Edinburgh Comedy Award Best Newcomer Nominee 2019. Janine is quickly making a name for herself as one of the fastest-rising newcomers on the UK circuit. The New York native has been seen/heard on BBC Three, Comedy Central, Comic Relief and BBC Radio Four.
In addition to Jarleth and Janine there will be a full line-up of support acts and as usual your MC Eamon Goodfellow will host proceedings. Eamon has just finished his debut run at the Edinburgh Fringe with his one-man show ‘For He’s A Jolly Goodfellow’ which won rave reviews from audiences.
The show will start at 8pm and the members bar will be open from 7-11pm on the night. Tickets will bw available soon from the box office and cost £10 per person.
Once you’ve bought tickets then contact Eamon to reserve seats on the night via [email protected]
