Lock Up Your Daughters

By Bernard Miles
|
Adapted from ‘Rape upon Rape’ by Henry Fielding
Directed by Winifred Butler
12th – 22nd April 1972

The original programme for this production does not show first names for the Cast and Creative Team, so these have been guessed!

A musical romp (which opened The Mermaid in 1959) based upon Henry Fielding’s Rape Upon Rape. There is no rape but hilarious situations, beautiful period costumes and very catchy tunes and lyrics by Laurie Johnson and Lionel Bart. You will love Ramble and Hilaret, laugh against Squeezum, be exasperated with Politic and cheer when it all ends happily ever after with the rousing chorus of Lock Up Your Daughters.
