The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie

by Jay Presson Allen
|
Adapted from the novel by Muriel Spark
Directed by Carole Muscroft
4th – 11th December 1971

Set in Edinburgh in the 1930’s, this play portrays an expert in self-deception. ‘First, last and always’ a teacher, Jean Brodie cunningly constructs cliques of impressionable girls who in turn will go to any length to win her attention and affection. Surrounded by fierce admiration and desire, she defies all who seek to destroy her dangerous influence; or is it merely misunderstood and coveted dedication?
