Private Lives was the first play to be produced at the Phoenix Theatre in London, where it opened in September 1930, starring Gertrude Lawrence and Noël Coward, with Laurence Olivier and Adrianne Allen. It is perhaps Coward’s best comedy — simple, light and witty, about two attractive lovers unable to live together but unable to live apart!
Described by a critic as “Unique theatrical magic”.
