FROM THE BARN THEATRE ARCHIVE

A Chorus of Disapproval

by Alan Ayckbourn
Directed by Keith Thompson
Music Director Peter Perry
5th – 12th January 1991

A diffident widower joins the local amateur operatic society, getting a friendly welcome and a small part in The Beggar’s Opera. As the production progresses he advances into playing the leading role, while simultaneously his naïvety and inability to say no to anyone (including the producer’s wife) lead him into a complex social situation, and his popularity in the society dwindles rapidly.

A brilliantly inventive play, painfully funny.
