Pack of Lies

by Hugh Whitemore
Directed by Louis Davis
27th October – 3rd November 1990

Based on fact, this is a fictional, documentary thriller about Peter and Helen Kroger, an American couple who were convicted of spying for the Russians in 1961. Barbara and Bob Jackson and their young daughter Julie are caught up in a web of intrigue and deceit and their happy life is shattered when a man from MI5 persuades them to allow their home to be used as a surveillance post on their friends, the Krogers. As the dreadful truth is discovered, we feel Barbara’s agony as she realises their friends have betrayed her and her family and that she, in her turn, has betrayed them and their very real friendship.

A compelling, gripping piece of writing.
