This year is the centenary of the birth of J.B. Priestley, whose much loved play When We Are Married was first performed in London in October 1938.
Three couples, staunch Yorkshire Chapel folk and pillars of society, married 25 years ago, are gathered together to celebrate their Silver Wedding. The new church organist, summoned to be reprimanded for courting an unidentified maiden, tells them that he has found out that the parson who married them all was not authorised to do so. Pandemonium ensues, with hilarious results.
A play that outlives much of the other contemporary writing of the time.
