This is a shocking black comedy, set in the west of Ireland in the late twentieth century. In this play, tragedy and farce are skilfully interwoven in a mysterious story deadling with the darkest of themes. Horror and normality walk hand-in-hand in a piece that brilliantly illuminates the reality of the lives of the four characters concerned.
Those who have seen its companion piece, The Beauty Queen of Leenane, will already appreciate McDonagh’s style. Those who have yet to have the experience can look forward to an outrageously funny evening.
