FROM THE BARN THEATRE ARCHIVE

Great Expectations

Adapted by Hugh Leonard | by Charles Dickens
Directed by Chris Bruce
Assistant Directors Bobbi Hartshorne, Lauren Christy
Musical Director Rachel Thomas
Assistant Musical Director Chris Gill
16th – 24th October 2009

Take a classic tale. Add a contemporary re-styling. The result is a wonderful play that moves at a real pace and condenses Dickens’ beautifully evocative language into moments of high drama.

This exciting adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic novel has all the haunting resonance of the original and conveys the story with great clarity and theatrical flair. The play is a tale of pride, misunderstanding and deceit, and whistles along at a tearing pace.

This production will be performed using physical theatre, minimalist set and other stage techniques to create a real theatrical event for all the family.

Why not come see the show on Monday or Tuesday, when you’ll get the added benefit of participating in our new Show Talks?

  • On Monday the director Chris Bruce will be available in the bar at 7:30pm to talk about putting on this most unusual of shows.
  • On Tuesday at 7:30pm Cindy Lawford will be discussing some of the themes of the play.
  • On Wednesday the cast will be available on stage directly after the show to answer your questions.
