A stage adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, Bell’s Monster provides a disturbing yet poignant look at one man’s insatiable quest to defeat death by creating life, and the dreadful results of abandoning his creation. Drawing on the talents of new and old members of the Barn Theatre, directed by Luke Lilly and designed by Trevor Wallace, the cast and crew have created an atmospheric and powerful production that will challenge the audience’s perception of who really is…the Monster.
The Barn Theatre’s production of Monster draws its inspiration from the classical idea of horror: that what truly horrifies us is what we see in ourselves reflected upon the stage. Making use of steampunk motifs, a claustrophobic set and innovative use of digital projection, this production stands out as a powerful piece of drama that will resonate with audiences for quite some time after the final curtain falls.
