Musicians from the Welwyn Garden City Band are joining up with Barn members to bring this moving and funny story to the stage: Brassed Off, adapted from the hit 1996 Ewan McGregor film. The closure of Grimley Colliery, is the backdrop to this 1990s story of a passionate, heart-rending struggle to make ends meet in a dying town – and not only keep the town’s brass band up and running but also become British champions.
This unique collaboration celebrates the enormous talent and opportunity we have here in Welwyn Garden City and pays homage to the appalling hardship endured in the Yorkshire mining towns during the 80s and 90s.
