Steel Magnolias – Charity Preview

Charity preview performance in support of Home-Start

Steel Magnolias

Bringing together six women who span the social spectrum of their southern community in Louisiana, Steel Magnolias is set in an 80s beauty salon where Truvy dispenses shampoos and free advice to the town’s socialite M’Lynn and her daughter Shelby. Filled with humorous and acerbic repartee, the plot moves towards tragedy and shows the uplifting results of six very different people coming together in dark times. Robert Harling wrote the play after his sister, a diabetic, died in childbirth. It was turned into a hit film starring Sally Field, Julia Roberts, Shirley MacLaine, Dolly Parton and Darryl Hannah.
