FROM THE BARN THEATRE ARCHIVE

Close the Coalhouse Door

By Alan Plater
Directed by Lynn Gill
Co-Directed by Michael McKever
Choreographer Janet Price
Musical Director Ray Aspey
1st – 8th March 1975

A documentary musical with music and song in the Tyneside musichall tradition.

The Golden Wedding party of an old pitman and his wife forms a springboard into reflection and reminiscence about the past. The personal and working dilemma of their grandson pushes us into the future.

An unqualified hymn of praise to miners everywhere.
