Abigail and her teenage friends hold a party to which her mother Susan is not invited. Instead, Susan pops across the road for drinks with Beverly and Laurence and their guests Angela and Tony. This soirée develops into a frightening exploration of the nastiness contained within the world of the so-called nouveau riche. It is a party from which Laurence will never recover.
