We are presenting Moonlight and Magnolias on stage between 22nd – 30th March, directed by Jack Wood. This is a very funny play based on a true event during the making of Gone with the Wind.

Legendary producer David O. Selznick has just suspended the filming, scrapping the script and sacking its director in the process. He drafts in script doctor Ben Hecht to rewrite it, but Hecht happens to be the only man in the country who’s not read the novel. They have a desperate five days to rescue the film…

The play is now cast and will start rehearsing at the beginning of February. Jack thought it would be a good idea to organise a screening for the cast so they can actually see it and understand the story – a bit like the true event really. We’d like to open this to all members and this will make the play even more enjoyable if you’re coming to see it in March.

It’s a long film, so we’re going to run it as a special matinée performance at 2pm on Sunday 27th January. We’ll also have a half hour tea and cake interval to make the experience even more enjoyable and this will be free, but we will ask for a contribution to cover tea please. So, come along and see it on the big screen.
