The action takes place in a cell at Newgate Prison, on the morning of 5th October, 1598.
Ben Jonson is spending his last day in his condemned cell, after killing an actor in a duel. He has a surprise visitor – William Shakespeare, who comes to plead with him to perform a ‘neck-verse’ – reciting a Psalm, that may save him from the noose. But what does Shakespeare have to gain?
Reunion is a black comedy with more comedy than blackness in it. It’s about four friends, (and one wife) who have not seen each other since the late 80’s, and they have been asked to come dressed as their favourite 80’s band. However, one of them is a wife of one of the old gang and knows none of the others.
Old stories emerge and many memories are not as they are remembered, creating laughter and anger.
Finally, we learn there has always been an ulterior motive for this reunion.
