A rehearsed reading performance

Yasmina Reza’s 5th play and prequel to God of Carnage, this original short play was first performed at the National Theatre in 2000 then in the West End for a critically acclaimed run. Both ‘banal and profound, with writing which is brisk, brittle, brilliantly funny and lethally accurate’ (Sunday Times) it stages 3 different versions of the same event.

Henri and his wife Sonia are struggling to settle their son to bed when they are thrown into disarray by the unexpected arrival of Hubert and Ines. Punctuated by the child’s temper tantrums, bowls of chiz’its and chocolate fingers, plus copious amounts of alcohol, the evening degenerates hilariously into sarcasm, insults and lust as the four reveal their true feelings and thoughts.
