The Perfect Picnic

The perfect Picnic is to opera what the iPod is to the gramophone

Our Fringe finally comes to a close with The Perfect Picnic from Opera on the Run, another professional show, featuring the music of Mozart but like you’ve never heard him before.

If you like music theatre, opera, drama, or just an excellent moving and funny story with great tunes and superb direction… this is for you.

Newly redundant accountant David Sterling and his long-suffering girlfriend Sarah Primrose mysteriously receive tickets to an opera gala at which, it transpires, David’s ex-wife and rising opera star, Rachel, is performing. When Rachel’s new boyfriend, flamboyant celebrity TV designer Michael de Haughton-Tours, lays eyes on Sarah his attention is transferred immediately from the stage to the stalls where she is sitting. It is during the Picnic interval however that events unfold offering more drama than the opera itself.

The Tunes are taken from Mozart’s best operas.
