7th June 2024 at 8:00pm

Join us for another evening of Jazz at the Barn

Local musician, Matt Ward, welcomes audiences this month to hear a stripped-back set by his own jazz trio on Friday 7th June, featuring talented local musicians András Broskó and Debs Spanton.

Matt is a British jazz, classical, and pop trumpet player based in Welwyn Garden City, and former holder of the jazz chair in the Oxford University Jazz Orchestra. Recent appearances across the UK include performances at Pizza Express Live (Holborn and Chelsea venues), Luton’s The Bear Club, the Troubadour, The Ned, as well as featuring in the country’s premier Miles Davis tribute, Kind of Blue LIVE.

Matt performs regularly around Hertfordshire with a number of small group set-ups; performances over the past year have included Hitchin’s The Highlander pub with the Jazzspel quintet, Biggleswade’s Not Strictly Jazz Club, and Sawbridgeworth’s The Gallery.

András Broskó is a Hungarian-born guitarist living in St Albans, who completed a Masters in Jazz Guitar from the Guildhall School of Music & Dance in 2021. He now teaches guitar to students in Hertfordshire and performs across the county in small group settings.

Double and electric bassist Debs Spanton is a stalwart of the Hertfordshire jazz scene, playing in numerous small groups and big bands across the county and London. Debs is also Director of music production company, K&A Productions.
