For this season’s second gig, Jazz at the Barn welcomes a newly formed ensemble, The Eddie Bains Sextet. Led by North London-based alto saxophonist, Eddie Bains, the group takes well-known jazz classics, contemporary music, and original compositions into new dimensions with unique arrangements for a sextet line-up, featuring alto sax, trumpet, piano, bass, drums, and vocals.

The ensemble hosts a curation of musicians by Eddie who were active in the Oxford jazz scene, alongside Eddie’s school friends from jazz ensembles in the Buckinghamshire area. Some of the group’s musicians have also recently completed music and jazz degrees from top London conservatoires and UK universities, such as the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and the University of Oxford.

Expect an evening of intricately arranged jazz, where the sextet’s instruments both blend and juxtapose, joined by the sensitive vocal tones of singer Ben Stoll.
