Father Christmas has been nearly run over by a car, so young student Sasha helps him into her flat. He turns out to be an elderly man called Val, with a criminal history. Sasha’s fraught sister Chloe returns home and cannot believe Sasha has let a total stranger into the flat.
Sasha starts to spend time with Val, who spoils her and begins to change her outwardly and inwardly. A new neighbour Ashley also befriends Sasha; being an ex policeman he knows – and detests – Val, and tries to warn Sasha to be wary of him.
One of Ayckbourn’s very best recent comedies, with some very funny scenes, and an illuminating and wholly convincing ending.
